Welcome

Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women. I know, because it happened to me--no family history, out of the blue (and into the pink). A year later, after a mastectomy, chemo and radiation, I am still here. I'm thriving, surviving and living out from under the shadow of cancer.

FDR Drive walk, Orchard House Cafe, Bed Bath & Beyond

Saturday, August 7th, 2010 (6.32 mi./11,131 steps) 632 cal.

Got up at 5:55 am, but lay in bed until 0930. My Aunt was already up and gone. I juiced pineapple spears, a Fuji apple and five carrots, then showered and dressed. I decided to go for a walk and put on my black capris running pants and black tee shirt. Was a little tight after washing them a few times. I went out and chose to walk down the FDR drive from 109th Street to 63rd Street. I was going to The Tramway Diner, but decided to go to Orchard House Cafe on 58th and 1st Avenue for quiche instead. I ordered a slice of spinach quiche with a salad and iced Chai tea. I stayed to eat and everything was pretty good.

Since Bed, Bath and Beyond was close by, I stopped in and bought a few more kitchen gadgets: a new set of measuring cups, tongs, egg slicer, silicon spatula and another under bed drawer for storage. Took a cab home.

Auntie was outside watering her garden. Much cooler and pleasant today. Only 81 degrees.

Waiting to get the go ahead for one more surgery, then I hope to be returning to the workforce.
